Obituary

Kathryn Patricia Alesia, age 87, of Park Ridge. Beloved wife of 42 years to the late Honorable James Alesia; loving mother of Brian (Sarah Langford) and Daniel (Francisco Cortez); cherished grandmother of Henry and Madeleine Alesia; devoted daughter of the late Redmond and late Mary Gibbons; fond sister of the late John (the late Margaret), the late Marie Luebke (the late Robert Luebke), the late Sally, the late Francis (Janet), James (Gayle), and the late Richard Gibbons. Kathryn was a graduate of Visitation High School and Loyola University of Chicago,  where she met James Alesia. She was a devoted teacher at Perkins Bass Elementary School on the South Side of Chicago and, later, Washington Elementary School in Glenview before leaving the profession to care for her newly-born twin sons. She was a long-time member of Mary, Seat of Wisdom parish in Park Ridge, where she was a member of the Guardian Angel Guild and a frequent volunteer at the school in many capacities, including serving as a room mother and picture lady. Kathryn was a devoted wife and mother and a doting grandmother. She lived in her home in Park Ridge for 50 years and cherished her decades-long friendships with her neighbors before moving to Amazing Grace assisted living facility, where she was a dearly loved resident. She was quick with a compliment and even quicker with a self-deprecating joke. She frequently wore a big smile on her Irish face and even in suffering, kept her sense of humor. Her love and laughter will be dearly missed. Visitation, Monday, June 10 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Mary, Seat of Wisdom church, 920 Granville Ave., Park Ridge. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside. Memorials to Misericordia are greatly appreciated.  https://www.misericordia.com/giving/donate-online/
