Jozef M. Ravelingeen, 71, born March 3, 1955, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife and son by his side on September 5, 2026.

Joe is survived by his wife, Barb Snyder-Ravelingeen, and son, Jozef Snyder Ravelingeen; siblings, Daniel (Joann) Ravel, Godfried (Barb), Renaat (late Peggy), and Maria (Paul) LeBrun; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Joanna (Vanthornout) Ravelingeen.

After an honorable discharge from the United States Marines, Joe became a Cook County Sheriff's Deputy. In 2019, Joe retired as a Stationary Engineer from Cook County Stroger Hospital.

Joe was involved in the 44th Ward for many years. In 1975, he became a member of the Young Democrats and later served as a 44th Ward Precinct Captain until 2026.

Joe enjoyed fishing and boating with his wife, son and his in-laws. He also loved to travel. His favorite vacation spot, which he visited as often as possible, was Hawaii. Joe also enjoyed many family pets throughout his married life.

Interment will be private.
