Solberg, John, age 56, died unexpectedly on May 10, 2022.

John should be remembered as a charismatic and loving husband, father, and son who could find light and humor in any situation. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his wife and children.

John was born in Traverse City, Michigan and grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a proud alumni of the University of Michigan, where he met his beloved wife Christine. They settled in the Chicago area after college and moved to Park Ridge, Illinois, Christine's hometown, in 1999 to raise their family. He made a career working for over 20 years at ADP. He was a problem solver both in work and in life, always lending a helping hand.

John's most proud accomplishments were his three children, Katie, Michael and Alex. He was a devoted and loving father who continuously prioritized his family. He could always be found at cheerleading competitions, sporting events and dance recitals supporting his children. From staying up late into the night helping his children with their creative school projects and math homework, to rushing to school to drop off forgotten lunches, he put his family first.

John was a talented and curious man who loved finding new hobbies. He was a lifelong lover of music and enjoyed playing music at home and with friends, discovering new bands, and watching live shows. He was an excellent cook who loved trying new recipes and could never resist purchasing a new kitchen gadget. He loved his "grand-dog", Winston and greatly enjoyed being a part-time member of the Park Ridge dog social scene.

John is survived by his wife Christine, daughter Katie, sons Michael and Alex, parents Earl and Joan Solberg, brother Paul (Jackie) Solberg, sister Mary (Dave) Vander Meer, father-in-law Fred Scheidt and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law Helene Scheidt. Visitation Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Highway, Park Ridge. Funeral Mass Monday, May 16, 2022, with processional beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Cooney Funeral Home to Mass at 10 a.m. at Mary Seat of Wisdom, 920 Granville Ave., Park Ridge.
