John (Jack) R. Winandy, known as "Potts" to family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith "Judy" (Rinallo) Winandy. A loving father to two, Dawn Winandy-Stancil and Troy Winandy, adoring Grandfather to Bailee (Daniel) Salgado and Jack Stancil, and a proud great grandfather to Lilianna Salgado. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Raymond J. and Cecelia (Grobe) Winandy and his sister Jane (Winandy) Sender.
Born in 1944 and raised in Chicago, Potts was a member in good standing of the Labor Union for 50 years. He was an avid Motorcycle rider, and he enjoyed nothing more than being on his Harley. In the 70's & 80's he was a long time member of the Wheelmen of Chicago, and then a very proud 25+ year member of the Northside Chicago Outlaws. In retirement, Potts loved to travel, and was lucky enough to be able to travel to amazing club locations all over the world due to his association with AOA.
Potts was highly respected and loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. He passed away at Illinois Masconic Medical Center in Chicago on Fri, May 24th, just short of his 80th birthday. He will sadly miss the birth of his second great grandaughter. His family was at his side.
Visitation will be held Saturday June 8 3:00pm-7:00pm at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge. Interment private.
