John Joseph Fitzpatrick, 93, of Park Ridge, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. John was born on January 3, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Edmund and Helen Fitzpatrick (Sullivan). Beloved husband of the late Joan, loving father of David (Megan) Fitzpatrick, Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Timothy (Karen) Fitzpatrick, and Brian (Anna) Fitzpatrick, devoted grandfather to Theresa (Daniel) Nowakowski, Molly and Mary Kate Fitzpatrick, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Thibert, Laura (Michael) Turner, Kaitlyn (Matthew) Jasica, Seanna (Peter) Petmezas, John (Kaitlin) Fitzpatrick, Maggie Fitzpatrick, Michael (Caitlin) Fitzpatrick and Anthony Fitzpatrick and great grandfather to Jake, Georgia, Kathryn, Julia, Aurora, Felix, Andrew and John. Dear brother of Eileen (Timothy) O'Mahony and uncle of Megan O'Mahony. A graduate of DePaul University, John taught high school English for many years at Taft High School in Chicago and upon retirement enjoyed teaching adult education with his late wife Joan. John and Joan further enjoyed travel in retirement, with destinations including Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Western Canada and became skilled in ballroom dancing where they enjoyed the company of like-minded active couples. A celebration of John's life will proceed at the chapel at All Saints Cemetery 700 North River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00am with interment to follow.
