John J. Fitzgerald, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2026. He was the son of the late Edward and Johanna Fitzgerald and a loving brother to Mary (Steven) Allen, Michael Fitzgerald, and the late Kevin Fitzgerald.

John was a cherished uncle to Nancy (Jay) Allen Thompson and Scott Allen, and a great-uncle to Benjamin and Jacob Allen.
John worked for many years as a tool and die maker at Switchcraft, where he dedicated himself to his craft. A gifted carpenter, John had a talent for working with his hands. Whether at work or pursuing his own interests, he took pride in what he did.

John was a kind and generous person who held a special place in the hearts of his niece and nephew. He also maintained many lasting friendships with those he knew from St. Andrew School, friendships that remained an important part of his life.

John enjoyed the simple pleasures , including fishing trips, playing pool, and sharing his knowledge as a trivia enthusiast.
John will be remembered for his generous spirit and the special memories he created with those who knew and loved him. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Services will be private.

In honor of John's life and in his memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to support suicide prevention efforts and help bring hope to those affected by suicide.
