Johanna "Joann" Mary Mullane (née Murphy) 84 years of age, native of Knockfinisk, Carrickerry, Athea, County Limerick. Born February 19, 1938. Emigrated by ship to NYC and arrived in Chicago via train in May 1956. Johanna's aunt Catherine & uncle Patrick Clarke opened their home to her and she later moved on to live on the West Side (Austin) until April of 1966. Johanna, then spent a decade on Chicago's Northwest Side in Jefferson Park and several more decades in Edison Park. Beloved wife of the late Patrick "Paddy" Mullane of Strand, (Newcastle West) County Limerick, Ireland. Cherished mother of Catherine (Fredrik) Axén in Santa Fe, NM, Timothy in Chicago, and Mary Ann Mullane in Jackson, WY.

Beloved daughter of the departed Patrick [1973] and Catherine (nee McMahon) [1951] Murphy of Knockfinisk, Carrickerry, Athea, County Limerick. Treasured sister of Catherine (the late Dan) Goulding of Knockfinisk, Carrigkerry, Athea, County Limerick, Ireland; and was preceded in death by her brothers Patrick, Sean and Michael (Eileen), all were residents of England, James-twin (the late Ellen) of Knockfinisk, Carrigkerry, Athea, County Limerick, Ireland; and the late Timothy-twin (Mary) of England.

Johanna was an aunt, grand-aunt and cousin to many in Ireland, England, New Zealand, New York and Dallas. Johanna also leaves behind many Murphy, Cummane, Clarke and Mullane relatives and friends in the Chicagoland area.

Longtime member of the Limerick Hurling Club of Chicago, Irish-American Heritage Center (Chicago) and Chicago Gaelic Park. At age 22, Johanna decided to fly back to Ireland, with travels onto England to visit other family members.

Being an adventurous young woman, she spent the next several months touring throughout most of western Europe. At 23 years old, she married Patrick in November of 1961. Johanna was a generous soul with exquisite taste, a warm and loving smile, and had a heart of gold. She will be missed by many.
