Jennifer Kostanski (Mertes) Jen, aged 41, of Chicago, IL., passed away very suddenly after a quick, onset, unexpected illness, surrounded by family on Friday, the first of November, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Jeremy, step-mother of Alex, dear daughter of Christine (nee Siedlecki) Fitzner (Michael) and the late Herbert Mertes Jr. (Karen), loving sister of Jillian (Hiram), step-sister of Aimee, wonderful aunt of Jayden, Gavin, Jack, Josh, Dax, adored niece and cousin of many. Despite being a quadriplegic, Jen loved spending time with her friends and family, attending concerts and music festivals, seeing art shows, creating art herself, publishing and editing her personal blog "Jen Talks-TV," and was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. Some of her other hobbies included fashion, being a make-up connoisseur, and organizer extraordinaire. (Sadly, stock in "Sephora" and "The Container Store" have gone down!)  Visitation Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home 3928 W.
