Jay Thomas Parsons passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was born in Chicago on June 26, 1937.
Jay was the beloved husband of Margaret "Margie", née Dolphin for 61 years; loving father of James "Jim" (Jennifer) and Steven (Tanya); proud grandfather of Blake, Garrett, Grace, Adam, and Andrew; dear brother of the late Audrey (Wes) Graser and Phyllis (Dick) Kuhr; beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jay was a lifelong Chicagoan and loyal Cubs and Bears fan. He served active duty in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 and in the reserves for two years after that. He briefly saw combat in the Lebanon Crisis of 1958.
Jay worked for Illinois Bell, Ameritech, and AT&T for a total of 41 years starting off as a telephone line repairman and finishing as a computer programmer.
After retiring from AT&T, Jay worked as a volunteer at Holy Family Hospital for many years.
Jay was kind, had a generous spirit, loving, always had a smile, maybe easily taken for granted because he asked for nothing. A decent man in every sense of the word, incapable of malice, uncomplaining, he put others before himself, one could count on him to do the right thing and do it quietly. He stepped up when others observed. He didn't hold a grudge against anyone.
He will be missed.
