James (Jim) C Karkazis, 86, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023. Beloved husband of Phyllis Karkazis (nee Kouretsos); loving father of Anastasia (Steven) Heffner, Mark (Carolyn) Karkazis, and Dean (Jennifer) Karkazis; loving grandfather of Francesca, Stephanie, Katrina, Samantha, Lauren and Adam; dear brother of the late Lambros (late Helen), late Helen (late Chris) Pappademos, late Daphine (late George) Bagatelas, late Ephrosine (late John) Kotsionis, & George (Myrsini); dear uncle to many nephews and nieces, and a great friend to all.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army and was a military police officer during his service. Jim owned Karkazis Furs in La Grange, IL with his brother for many years before retiring in 2002. Jim's first passion was his wife, kids and grandkids. He loved nothing more than to have everyone gather for dinner and enjoy each other's company. Jim's second passion was golf. He was a great golfer, a member of the "hole in one club", and greatly enjoyed meeting his friends at the golf course to talk about the days events over a cup of coffee.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge. Funeral Thursday, family and friends are asked to meet at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Westchester for a 10:00 a.m. service.
