James P. Burke, Jr, 62, passed away peacefully at home on January 20th, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Doting son to James (deceased) and Lena, and loyal brother to Noel (Tom), Michael (deceased), and Patrick. Beloved husband to Susan and loving father to James III, Bridget (Don), and Diana (Nick). Best papa in the world to Devlin. Fond cousin, uncle, and friend to many.
James was born at the Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, IL on December 12, 1954. He attended St. Benedict High School and he married Susan Ann Mitsch on October 26, 1975. They had just recently celebrated their 41st anniversary. James and Susan built their highly successful business together and James worked tirelessly until the very end. James loved travel, great music, and fine food with family and friends. He was happiest at home in Ireland. He took great pride in his work, his family, and his ancestry. James was a great benefactor for many causes, including veterans, Irish-American immigration in Chicago, and to his family's parish in Leitir Móir, Co. na Gaillimhe.
Visitation is at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, IL on Sunday, January 22nd from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL on Monday, January 23rd. James will be interned in Ireland, by his father and brother.
