Jacques "Jack" A. Groth, Beloved Husband and long term partner to Kurt L. Johnson, passed
away on March 16, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Jack (deceased) and Mary Groth, Jacques became an accomplished visual artist who was taught to appreciate the art and beauty that permeated his life. He attended Audubon School, Carl Schurz High School and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From these schools, he developed many life-long friendships that helped nurture his life of creativity and artistic imagination.
This artistic passion led him to spend extended time living in southern Europe and New York
City before ultimately landing in the North Oak Cliff area of Dallas Texas. As was his spirit, in
Oak Cliff, he continued to develop strong friendships and became very active in those
organizations that helped his community thrive. In short, he loved his neighborhood and his
neighbors. Jacques often said, "I live on a magical cul-de-sac." But Jacques also deeply loved his family. They were his heartbeat. He was a brother for Sandy (deceased), Mike, Stacey, and Karen. A loving Uncle to Leah, Matt, Sig, Brandon, Cassie, and Kim. An adoring Great Uncle to Mia, Ronni, and Connor. And, of course, a father to Sage, his nine-pound Rat Terrier. Loved by many, Jacques was known by many names. Jack, Jackie, Uncle Micky, Uncle "Kato", and Spike. No matter how you knew him, he will be missed. Visitation Thursday March 30, 2017 3-9PM. Funeral Friday March 31, 2017, 10 AM. Cooney Funeral Home, Irving Park Rd, Chicago Illinois. Interment Montrose Cemetery, Chicago.
