Irma Schmidt (nee Fischer) passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, from this life on January 27, 2020 at the Age of 89. She was born to the late Eduard and Franziska Fischer in Furt im Wald, Germany on November 7th, 1930. Irma immigrated to the United States via boat in 1955. She passed through Ellis Island and journeyed from New York to Chicago. She loved traveling back and forth from Chicago to Germany. Irma was happiest telling stories and laughing with family and friends. She was the loving mother of Fritz (Traci Novick) Schmidt and Eva (Tim) Glascott; Omi to Katie Glascott, Joe Glascott, Erik Glascott, Ian Glascott, Lauren Glascott, Alexander Schmidt, Benjamin Schmidt, and Emmett Glascott; sister of the late Zita (the late Ludwig) Fischer, the late Edith Fischer, and Lise (the late Frank) Ploetz; aunt to Lotte Fischer, Eduard (Resi) Fischer, Barbara (Steve) Kostecki, Tom Ploetz, and Mike (Lisa) Ploetz; great aunt to many. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m.at Cooney Funeral Home located at 3918 W. Irving Park Rd. in Chicago. Interment private.
