Irene "Sis" Krey, 84, died at home surrounded by family on Mother's Day, following a battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Chicago's Northcenter/Lakeview neighborhoods, Sis was known for her warmth and engaging personality - traits that drew a large circle of friends who filled her life with love and laughter. In 1953 she married Ed Krey and together they welcomed two sons. She later began a three-decade career as secretary at Chicago's Temple Sholom. Always ready for a new joke, a new friend or a new adventure, Sis remains forever in our hearts as the life of the party. Besides her husband, Ed, she is survived by her son, Michael (Donna); and grandchildren Karl, Mackenzie, Katelyn, Emily and Tessa, and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her son Eddie, daughter-in-law Sonya and brothers, James and Richard. Visitation and services will be held Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cooney's Funeral Home, 3918 West Irving Park Rd. A private interment is planned. Deepest thanks to family members and friends for their loving care and professional guidance, especially Donna Rice and Advocate Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA or the American Cancer Society are suggested. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/chicagotribune/obituary.aspx?n=irene-krey&pid=171029667&fhid=16217#sthash.gF3AljLp.dpuf
