Gus G. Mangos, 97 years of age, passed away on February 7, 2022. Gus was born on March 2, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late George and Pauline Mangos. Beloved uncle of Paula, William, Diana (Panayotis), Thomas and Stephen (Mary). Cherished granduncle of Demetra, James, Veronica (Blake), Stephen (Kelly), Alexander and Nicholas (Alexis). Dear great-granduncle of Blaine. Loving brother of the late Mary Tolan and Alexander, James and Peter Mangos. Gus proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all. Gus was an avid swimmer and had many friends at the Evanston YMCA. The family expresses gratitude to the staff at The Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Centre for the excellent and compassionate care Gus received over the years. He was "Uncle Gus" to everyone. Visitation Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 10:30 A.M. until time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 E. Dempster Street, Des Plaines, IL  60016. Interment following at Fairview Memorial Park, 900 N.
