Gloria O'Connor, age 95 passed away January 9, 2026. Gloria was born and lived her whole life on the north side of Chicago. She attended Waller High School. After high school, Gloria worked for Amalgamated Meat Cutters in Chicago at Sheridan Road and Diversey Boulevard as a key punch operator. She married Robert O'Connor on October 24, 1953 and they had four children together. Gloria's greatest joys in life was her love of family and social gatherings with family and friends. In addition to that, other favorites included, traveling , a good, competitive card game, watching her favorite TV shows, and going to the beach. Sixty years ago you could find Gloria marching down Montrose Avenue with a stroller and a bunch of neighborhood kids trailing behind to spend the day at Montrose Beach. After raising her family and becoming widowed, Gloria joined a few Senior Group Clubs at Merrimac Park, Irish American Heritage Center and St. Viator's. She went on to be a member at Merrimac Park for over 25 years. They played cards, celebrated birthdays, holidays, and basically had lots of fun. Besides the Senior Clubs, Gloria volunteered at St. Viator's Thrift Shop. She traveled as much as she could and enjoyed sending postcards from her destinations. Along with all her activities, she never missed an opportunity to babysit her four grandchildren when called upon for help. Gloria will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert and daughter-in-law, Maureen O'Connor. Gloria is survived by her children, Jim (Leticia), Tom (Hermine), Larry, and Carol (Brett), grandchildren, Brian ( Shannon) and Kevin (Nicole) O'Connor, Ashley (Andy) and Jessica Sturgeon, great-grandchildren, Cameron, Emmett, Elizabeth, and Quinn O'Connor.
