George Litman, beloved husband and father, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Theresa M. Litman, parents Steven and Luz P. Litman, brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law Alice & Joaquin Romero Sr., John & Sara Litman, Sophie & Felipe Salazar, Lucy & Nicandro Villarreal, Elodia and Steven Litman Jr., Gabriel & Mary Litman, Elena Litman, Jesus B. Garcia, Kathy Litman, Nellie, (nee Figueroa) Fernandez, Robert & Zoila F. Perry, nephews Andy Fernandez, Joaquin Romero Jr., Ed J. Akers, Jerry Garcia, Gabe Litman Jr., Gilbert Litman, Steven Litman III, niece Irene Litman Sanchez. He is survived by his children, Sally Litman-Woods, George Litman, Jr., Bernard Litman, Jeffrey Litman, and Laura Litman, daughters-in-law Donna (nee Brunkhorst) Litman, Dorine (nee Vasquez) Litman, grandchildren Nicholas O. Litman, Jessica MacKenzie Litman, Julia Janice Litman, Danielle Hannah Litman, Jeffry Laredo Litman, brothers and sister Jane Litman Garcia, Peter Litman Sr., Jesse Litman Sr., cousins Ernest and Eva Gonzalez, and countless much beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. Born during the Great Depression in Texas, George developed real muscles at the age of 10 from laboring with his father and brothers in building the family home. While serving as a paratrooper in the 82 nd Airborne during the Korean war, he became an expert marksman, and later won trophies from the Teletype Shooting Club, where he worked as a Master Electrician for over thirty years. George was dedicated to his family and enjoyed traveling to many countries with his dear wife over the years. He valued kindness, politeness, and safety above all during his 9 decades of life. The visitation will be held at Cooney Funeral home (625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge, Illinois) on Friday, January 10 from 4-8 pm. The funeral will be held at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery (8600 Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, Illinois) on Saturday, January 11, leaving the funeral home at 11 am. Pallbearers will be George Litman, Jr., Bernard Litman, Jeffrey Litman, Nicholas O. Litman, Jeffrey Laredo Litman, and Lorenzo Fernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Peter Litman Sr., and Jesse Litman Sr. The Litman family would like to extend our most sincere gratitude for all the loving care and support George received from his caregivers at Lincolnwood Place, Evanston Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital of Evanston.
