Frank P. McGovern, 76, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 following a brief illness.  Beloved husband of 51 years to Becky (Nelson) McGovern; loving father of Kirsten Cotton (Bill) and Brendan McGovern (Donnie); dear grandfather of Christopher and Brianna Lescher, Frank leaves behind his cherished sister Mary (McGovern) Pritchard, innumerable friends, including his boyhood companion George Sammartino. Born and raised in Chicago, the son of Frank and Bridget McGovern (O'Brien), he is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis and his dear brother in-law John Pritchard. His work ethic was apparent at an early age when he would awake early to deliver newspapers.  After graduating from Lane Tech High School, he attended Columbia College briefly, before joining the service. After serving in the military, he returned home to pursue a lifelong career in sales.  While working at H.K. Porter, he met Joe Cane, with whom he would later go on to form A Star Electric Company, a prosperous business that survives him in death.  He treated his employees like family and will be dearly missed.  He not only took great pride in his business, but he truly relished the friends he made throughout his career. An avid golfer, and world traveler, he was a lifelong student who enjoyed immersing himself in other cultures and new experiences.  Though not an architect by trade, he was a great admirer of the craft and took immense pride in having played a key role in the design of his home.
