Schneider, Elaine M.--
A lifelong resident of Chicago, Elaine Marie was born December 17, 1936, to Louise and Joseph Nykaza. She had four siblings: brothers Ed, Walter, and Joseph, and sister Dorothy (Kozumplick) (all pre-deceased).
In 1955, she married the love of her life, William E. Schneider (deceased). Together, they raised six children: Luanne Rogers, Gary Schneider, Jill Hupp, Carolyn McCormack, Sharon Gentile and Ted Schneider. She was the proud Grandmother of thirteen: Matt and Emily Rogers; Courtney and Kara Schneider; Brandon, Nicole, Tiffany and Will Hupp; Noel McCormack; Jake and Amelia Gentile; and Drew and Elizabeth Schneider. Elaine was also Great Grandmother of two: Max and Juliette Rogers (and was confident that other little ones would come along in due time). Matriarch of her own immediate family, she was also a beloved Aunt and Great Aunt to many.
A devout Catholic, she lived her faith. With great generosity of spirit, she always reached out to others in need. In the Schneider household, there was always another seat at the table and plenty of nourishing, home-cooked food to share with those who might need a friend. For Elaine and Bill Schneider, generosity and kindness were the hallmarks of a loving, Christian home.
As her children grew into adulthood, family and a lifetime of wonderful neighbors and friends remained the center of her life. She felt blessed to have a close-knit and extended family that stretched from Chicago to California and Texas to New Hampshire. As her family grew, she took great pleasure in phone calls and visits across the nation.
