Edward Michael "Ed" O'Connor, 68, of Barrington Hills, Illinois passed unexpectedly at his home on April 18, 2023. He was the beloved husband to Karen O'Connor (nee Smith); devoted son of the late Charles J. O'Connor and Lenore (nee Sauter); cherished son-in-law of Madelyn (and the late Walter) Martin; loving father to Chuck (Melanie) Hodges, Charles O'Connor, Edward (Stephanie) O'Connor, Meeghan (Liam) Doherty, and Kaylyn O'Connor; proud Grandpa of Haley, Jacob, Liz, Collin, Madison, Emma, Zoey, Mackenzie, Liam Ryan, Connor, and Dean; fond brother to the late John O'Connor, Mary O'Connor, Charles O'Connor, Catherine (James) Kardelis, and William O'Connor; favorite brother-in-law to Rosalyn (Tim) Lesch, Pamela (David) Schneider, and Timothy (Teresa) Smith; adored Uncle to many nieces and nephews; and a good Friend to all.

Ed was born on May 3, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to his loving parents Charles and Lenore O'Connor. He was the third of six children and grew up in the St. Gertrude Parish in Edgewater Glen. As a child, he enjoyed sports and played lots of pranks. You could always count on him getting into some kind of trouble.

As he grew into adulthood, he met Karen, the love of his life, of whom he would share the the next 41 years with. He was a retired Engineer for the Chicago Fire Department. He was a talented musician all his life and shared his gift with all who knew him. He was the most amazing father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed forever.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy. in Park Ridge. Funeral Tuesday, family and friends are asked to meet at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 1420 W. Granville Ave. in Chicago for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment private.
