Donald “Don” James Sniezek of Park Ridge passed suddenly and unexpectedly on

October 23 rd, 2025 at the age of 64. Don is survived by his devoted wife Haslina and his

loving children Johann and Monet. A caring son to his father Donald Eugene Sniezek,

his sisters Lynn (Tom) and Cyndi (Amy), his niece and nephew Matt and Kim. A

wonderful son in law to Abdul Jalil Kunimin, his sister-in-law Nurhayati (Ismail) and his

nephews, Ridwan and Yusuf. His mother Patricia Sniezek preceded him in death,

having passed on November 17 th, 2021. We find peace in believing that she is there

alongside him.

Don was born July 27 th, 1961 in Des Plaines, IL and was a graduate of Maine West High

School in 1979. From there, he pursued his college education at Southern Illinois

University in Carbondale where he received his master’s in engineering. Along the way,

Don met the love of his life, Haslina, an international student from Singapore. Don and

Haslina were married on May 23 rd, 1987, where they would share 40 years of adventure,

love and devotion

Don started his career with the Department of Treasury in 1986 as a management and

field expert. He would then retire 36 years later as Director of Headquarters

Examination. Don was committed to providing leadership, direction and accountability to

over 400 team members at the IRS. In January 2022, Don returned to the workforce

and joined Alliant Group as a Senior Technical Advisor. The last 3 of his careers had

been very fulfilling and rewarding. We thank Don’s team at Alliant Group for giving him

such an amazing opportunity.

Although Don was an aspiring work professional, he was a passionate hobbyist

traveling across Asia, Europe and North and South America. He enjoyed spending time

with family and relatives in Singapore and Malaysia who love and miss him dearly.

When Don wasn’t traveling, he was a chef, perfecting his soup recipes and his famous

Thanksgiving turkey. He was an avid gardener and appreciated spending time outside.

During the summers, Don and Haslina would spend their weekends cycling downtown

along the lake shore and catching up with the kids in Lincoln Park. He enjoyed playing

golf with Haslina whenever he got the chance and even shot a hole – in – one this past

summer. On Sundays, he would scour the Rosemont flea market for the best bargain. In

his down time, he would unwind by chatting with friends across the world and playing

video games.

Don was a dedicated and devoted husband, father and respected leader. He was

always open to trying new things or challenging the status quo. He was a good friend to

all that knew him and was always there to lend a helping hand. His life was a blessing,

his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond

measure. It will be hard to forget someone who gave so much to remember.
