Donald Heidkamp Born May 9, 1931 in Chicago, the son of Emil and Katharine (nee Cunningham), Don passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 20th at the age of 85. A graduate of St. Hillary, Quigley and Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary, Don was ordained for the Chicago Archdiocese in 1957. He also received a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, a Masters in Philosophy from DePaul University and a MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. He was an educator, hospital administrator, social activist, Rainbow Hospice volunteer, avid golfer and family man. Don married Marsha Ann (nee Corns) on April 14th, 1973. They were happily married for 43 years. Don is survived by Marsha, his children, Beth (Kyle) Woods of Park Ridge, Dan (Colleen) of Western Springs, Mary Helen (Michael) Murphy of Joliet and his twin brother Richard (Ann) Heidkamp of Park Ridge. Don was blessed with ten grandchildren: Maggie Woods, Bridget Woods, Kate Woods, Eileen Heidkamp, Danny Heidkamp, Genevieve Heidkamp, Madison Murphy, Michael Murphy, Alyssa Murphy and Abby Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Emil, Joseph, Walter and his sisters, Katharine and Patricia. Don was loved by all who knew him. He was a man of tremendous faith, a great friend and neighbor to all. Don had a great sense of humor and was passionate about serving those in need. Visitation at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy., Park Ridge on Monday, January 23rd from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Tuesday at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church. Lying in State from 9:00 till time of Mass at 10 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
