Dennis Mushol, 72, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, after a lengthy hospital stay. He was born on September 30, 1950, to the late George and Dorothy (nee Malinski) Mushol. Dennis grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, and attended St. Lucy School in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago and Oak Park-River Forest High School (Class of 1968).  He was a graduate of Columbia College.

Cherished husband of Linda Manering. Loving father of the late Benjamin Alexander Mushol (b. 1976, d. 2020, son of Dr. Wendy Dirks). Devoted older brother to the late Rodney Mushol (b.1953, d. 2008).  Proud extra dad to Neil Manering and Patrick Gubbins. Adoring grandpa to three little girls and light of his life Ginger, Tallulah, and Magnolia Manering.  Friend of Bill W. Dear cousin and extended family member. Friend to many whom he met over the years.

Dennis was a retired CPD police officer whose career spanned 26 years from 1986 to 2012. In his earlier years, he worked as a brakeman with the Chicago and NorthWestern Railway, then as a cab driver, carpenter, and construction worker, as well as a photographer. In retirement, he drove Uber until the pandemic prompted him to rethink that part-time job and truly retire.

Dennis was a longtime member of the Chicago Region BMW Owners Association motorcycle club. He loved the open road and camping along the way.  With an avid interest in aviation, Dennis had taken flying lessons when he was in his 20s and always dreamed of resuming flight school and becoming a pilot. Dennis followed news and current events, and was fascinated by history, photography, computers, and astronomy. He was a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm, with a prayer service and reflection at 4:15 pm at MIDTOWN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION OPTIONS located at 3918 West Irving Park Road, Chicago.
