Delbert Rene Grawet will be interred Thursday December 16 at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends wanting to attend should meet at the funeral home at 10AM December 16. Visitation will be on Wednesday Decmber 15 from 3 PM until 8 PM at the Cooney Funeral Home on Irving Park road in Chicago.

Delbert (Duffy) was the widowed husband of Anna Marie Grawet and leaves behind his sons Dean, Duane, Daniel,  Dennis and the late Dale. As well as his grand children Tiffany, Dale (DJ to us), and Kayla and his great grand children AmberRose, Delilah, and Maelie.

Duffy graduated from Carl Schurz High School. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corp with honor. Its a badge that he wore with honor for his entire life. Delbert was a hard worker all of his life having retired from his job at International Paper at the ripe old age of 82. He would tell everyone that they had to chase him out cause he wasn't ready to retire yet.

Duffy was very proud of his extended family with cousins and uncles all over from Michigan to Iowa and Wisconsin. As well as Belgium, Dad was very proud of his Belgium ancestry. He was always telling stories about the various relatives. One that just popped into mind was the time that he was playing with his brothers in a barn. He would revel in the tale of him swinging on a rope out of the barn and into a pile of cow manure. We all thought that it was the grossest thing ever but we couldn't help but to laugh along with him. I could fill many pages with his stories.

Delbert liked things to be his way and the same went for his death. He wanted to stay at home. No nursing home for him. Thanks to hospice care and my brothers Duane and Dennis we were able to make that happen for him. Dad always said that he wanted to live until he was 100. While he didn't quite make it to 100 we were able celebrate his 93rd birthday with him at home on December 6. He quietly slipped away in his own bed in his sleep four days later. We will miss you Dad.
