On Sunday, February 7th, 2021, David Mendez, husband and father passed away at the age of 64 surrounded by his wife Diane (Kirby) and his Children. David was born in Laredo, TX on June 11th, 1956 to Carlos and Alejandra Mendez. At a young age, his family moved to Chicago, IL and grew up in the neighborhood of Wrigleyville. He attended Lane Technical High School and spent 37 years in construction. He raised three children, Alejandro, Armando, and Erica with his first wife Tirsa. David had a charismatic personality that was infectious and could make friends with nearly anyone he met wherever he went. He never found a bar he didn't like, and couldn't walk into a bar without seeing someone he knew. He spent his life enjoying the time he had with his loved ones and friends often barbecuing in the summer with a cold beer in one hand and tongs in the other. He swore by charcoal. David had a good heart and fierce loyalty to those close to him. He is survived by his wife, Diane (Kirby), former spouse Tirsa and their three children, Alejandro, Armando, and Erica. His Brother Denis and sisters, Diane and Sandra. His two grandchildren, Martin and Octavius.  Memorial service will take place Sunday, 1-4 p.m. on February 28th at Cooney Funeral Home 3918 W.
