David W. "Dave" Gardner, 63 years old, passed away on September 16th after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Anne (nee Marchionne); proud and loving father of Matthew (Anna) and Nicole Gardner and family dog Ellie; loving grandfather of Dante Matthew Gardner and dogs, Dexter and Zero; dear son of the late Marion and Julia "Judy" Gardner; dear son-in-law of Olga Marchionne and the late Henry Marchionne; dear brother-in-law of the late Paul and James Marchionne and John (Mari) Marchionne; fond uncle of Sophia Marchionne and friend to many other family and friends.  Visitation at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy., Park Ridge on Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Friday at 9:30 a.m. to St. Francis Borgia Church.  Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.  The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, aides and therapists at Resurrection Hospital that helped and cared for Dave throughout these years, as well as everyone at Avanti Wellness and Rehab Center and The Rainbow Ark Hospice Center.  They also would like to thank all the family and friends that prayed for Dave and their family over the years and the endless kindnesses.  In lieu of flowers, please listen to a Harry Chapin song or watch a Cubs game and take someone special out to dinner or donate to either the American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation.
