IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur
Whiteside
December 26, 1937 – August 15, 2025
Arthur Whiteside, 87, at peace August 15th, 2025. Beloved Husband of Rosemary Whiteside née Anderson for 65 amazing years. Dear son of the late Emmett and Martha Whiteside, née Gloss. Loving and devoted father of Sheila (Tony Zagone), Sharon, Christopher (Nadia, née Romanos), Gregory (Debbie, née McGovern), the late Brian (Linda, née Nordquist), Michael (Paula, née Huber), Joanne (Daryl Wilson), David (Karen, née George), and Carolyn (David Tayabji). Cherished Papa of Katherine (the late Costantine Papasavvas), Elizabeth, Michael (Kelly, née Barry), Cassandra, Eamon, Cameron, Emily, Braden, JJ, Emmett, Teryn, Colette, Genevieve, Delilah, Jillian, Claire, and Maeve. Great Papa of Nora and Leonidas. Dear Brother of Patricia (the late Edward Lasch), the late Thomas (the late Clara), Marge, the late John (Frances), Joseph (Carol), the late Edward (the late Pamela), and the late George (Sunny). Beloved brother in law of Robert Anderson (the late Sonja). Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Arthur was a graduate of Schurz High School, class of 1956. He met Rosemary, the love of his life, at Jewel where they both worked. They married in May of 1960 and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church. He worked tirelessly for 40 years at Jays Foods. Some would say he was the best neighborhood watchman, spending hours each week observing the comings and goings of people on the corner of Windsor and Lockwood. He was a man of quiet strength and goofy humor. He cherished the simple joys of life, found happiness in everyday moments, and absolutely loved spending time with his family. Arthur will be deeply missed, but his love, humor and kindness will live on through his family.
Visitation will be Friday August 22nd from 3:00pm until 8:00 at Conney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Highway, Park Ridge. Funeral services will begin on Saturday August 23rd at 10:00 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 4350 West Sunnyside, Chicago.
