Patricia Mohr Obituary

Patricia Ann Mohr (nee Kilgallon), 79, of Ingleside, IL, formerly of Chicago. Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Mohr; loving mother of Robin (John Tuohy) Mohr. Passed away March 15, 2019. A graduate of St. Michael High School in Chicago, Pat worked for 20 years as a court clerk for the Circuit Court of Lake County, and before that, as a payroll clerk and telephone operator for the Milwaukee Road until it closed in 1986.

Pat and Bob had a wide circle of friends and loved to travel. Starting in the mid-‘70s, they went on trips to England, Spain, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Mexico and Venezuela and also visited China soon after that country began welcoming foreign tourists in the ‘80s. One visit not on their itinerary: a trip to Cuba. The pair found themselves on the tropical island after their Florida-bound plane was hijacked by Cuban Nationals in need of a ride home. The passengers were unaware of the detour until the plane landed in Cuba, although Pat, who had been looking out the window and worried that the lush landscape and topography below did not belong to the Florida peninsula, tried to alert Bob, who was immersed in the Sun-Times sports page and dismissed her as alarmist. All ended well. The hijackers got off, and the plane continued to Florida without further hijinks.

Pat was passionate about nature and animals and helping the poor and others in need. She was a huge Cubs and Bears fan, and later in life, developed a special devotion to St. Jude, which she learned came in handy as a fan of both teams.

Pat was devoted to her husband and daughter, loved her three dogs, Daisy, Teddy and Pumpkin, and adored the children in her life. She wrote lullabies for them and whimsical stories about animals that she also illustrated. Her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, godchildren and children of friends and coworkers brought her much joy through the years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Irene (nee McDonough) Kilgallon; dear sister Barbara (the late Bob) Lochen; and dear brother Sean Kilgallon. She is survived by her daughter Robin; son-in-law John; dear sisters Kittie (the late Jacob) Thelen, Judee Selesky and Colleen (Ted) Buenz; dear brother Dennis (Eileen) Kilgallon; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
