Melvin C. Langtim

Langtim, Melvin C.—87, passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2018 with his wife of 61 years, Margaret P. Langtim (Corcoran) by his side. Born in Chicago in 1930, he was a member of the United States National Guard, dedicated football coach, and devoted father. Mel spent 43 years as a Chicago Public School Teacher/Administrator, with the majority of his career spent at Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. He was a loving father to Daniel (Melissa), William (Virginia), Julie (Louis), and Laura (John); proud grandfather of Erin, Brian, Katelyn, Kelly, Robert L, Joseph, Bobby T., Brendan, Isabella, Rachael, Kevin, Lindsey, Matthew, and Steven; great grandfather of Cameron, Ryan, Lia, Vivian, and Levi. Visitation will be held at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge on Friday, June 29th from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral service Saturday at 10:30 AM to Mary Seat of Wisdom Church located at 920 Granville Avenue in Park Ridge for Mass at 11:00 AM. Private interment will follow at a later date.
