Frank Baumann

Frank Baumann, 73, passed away peacefully at home with his wife of 47 years on February 12, 2018, after a battle with brain cancer. Beloved husband of Carole (nee Kivilin); loving father to Frank (Barbara), Joseph (Sarah) and Andrew (Aubrey); caring grandfather (affectionately known as “Papa”) to Emma, Claire, Lila, Austin, Carter and Ilene; fond brother to Glenna; and affectionate uncle to Jennifer, Kim, Lesli, Jerry and numerous other nieces and nephews. Born in Chicago on July 10, 1944, Frank lived his whole life in Chicago. He was a Chicago Police Officer when he met the love of his life, Carole, an ER nurse, in 1969 at Saint Joseph hospital in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. After Carole loaned him a travel book on Australia, the two fell in love, got married and built a beautiful love-filled life together on the northwest side of Chicago where they raised their three sons. Frank was an avid Chicago Bears fan. A season ticket holder for over fifty years, he loved rooting the Monsters of the Midway to victory when they still called Wrigley Field home. Upon completing 28 years of service to the city he loved, Frank retired as a Chicago Police Officer and started a new career as a realtor. His outgoing personality and love of meeting new people were a natural fit as a realtor, which Frank continued to do until he passed away. Even though Frank found enjoyment in his work, his true passion was his family. Nothing was more important to him than his family.  As a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he was present at every event for all of his children and grandchildren. He particularly loved coaching his children and his grandchildren in sports and delighted in the opportunity it gave him to spend time with them. Frank and his energetic love of life will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all the other people who knew him. Visitation at Cooney Funeral Home (625 Busse Hwy.) on Thursday, February 15th from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held Friday, February 16th at 9:30 a.m. to St. Paul of the Cross Church(320 S.
